No one expected Steinman death, and it was known after his passing that Steinman was suffering from cancer. So, what did the Nobel Committee do? Nobel Committee adhering to their established practice of not retracting their decision. The Nobel Committee proceed with awarding the Nobel Prize despite Steinman’s death justifying their decision by stating that they were unaware of his passing. Incidentally, Steinman was the discoverer of the famous immune cell known as the dendritic cell.
